“Charlotte Strong” bring petition to city council
Rochester, N.Y. - The grassroots movement "Charlotte Strong" took its concerns about the city's port project to city council Tuesday night.
Dozens donning green "Charlotte Strong" t-shirts addressed council members before its regular meeting.
The group handed over a petition with 2,000 signatures, asking city council to delay the process and start over.
Many Charlotte residents have expressed concern over the developer and say there has been a lack of transparency in the planning process.
"Charlotte needs renovation but Charlotte is a six month at most area. Bring in a designer who will incorporate end locations for boaters, restaurants, gift shops, small retail stores, play areas for families. Make it a summer destination as it was at the turn of the 19th century and let us stay quiet in the freezing months," Charlotte resident Patti O'Brien said.
A spokesperson for the mayor's office says the developer is still gathering feedback.
The developer is expected to reveal designs by the fall.
