Two dogs found wandering neighborhood

Rochester, N.Y. - Two dogs, with an unusual fascination with each other, were found roaming a Savannah, Georgia neighborhood.

ABC-affiliate WJCL reports that Joanie and Chachi have captured the hearts of animal control officers since they were discovered last Thursday. Chachi, a long-hair Chihuahua mix, was suffering from a horrible eye infection. And Joanie, a white lab-pit bull mix, was walking around with Chachi in er mouth, carrying him from place to place and occasionally stopping to lick his swollen eye.

Veterinary staff at the Metro Animal Shelter could not save Chachis ruptured eye, but they performed surgery to patch him up. He has been recuperating in the shelter clinic ever since.

On Tuesday, Joanie was finally allowed to visit her old friend and shelter staff were treated to an emotional reunion of the two canine friends, complete with licking, whining, caressing and finally cuddling.

Officers from Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are hoping to find them one home to go to, instead of separating them.
