E-ZPass email phishing scam
Rochester, N.Y. A new phishing scam is making its way into email inboxes, in which the scammers try to collect unpaid tolls from E-ZPass owners, according to the New York State Thruway Authority.
The e-mail is not authorized by E-ZPass, the New York State Thruway Authority, or any other toll agency.
The Thruway Authority said that E-ZPass does not send out emails to collect payment. Instead, E-ZPass will send a letter through the mail.
People who get the email are advised to delete it immediately.
