Local Israelis react to attacks

Rochester, N.Y. Rockets may be flying in Israel and Gaza, but there are some Rochester residents who are feeling the effects of the fighting.

Rami Katz grew up in Israel, but now lives in Rochester with his family.

His children are currently visiting relatives in Israel, where they have been spending much of their time rushing into bomb shelters, Katz said.

We dont wish it for anybody. Im kind of torn between balancing I want to make sure my kids are safe with me, on the other hand their grandparents are there being bombarded by rockets, their cousins, its a way of life. So, do you shield them from reality or do you teach them about reality? Its a touch balance, Katz said.

Katzs 9-year-old son does not want to cut the vacation in Israel short and wants to stay with his relatives.
