Severe flooding: Tuesday cleanup
Richmond, N.Y./Avon, N.Y./Penfield, N.Y. - Several roads remained closed across our area Tuesday morning, due to flooding caused by Mondays severe storms.
Major damage was caused to eight culverts in the Town of Richmond - and part of County Road 40 was washed away.
Homes and businesses were flooded with up to four feet of water.
Town Supervisor Ralph Angelo estimated that the total damage figure was around $400,000. The town has asked the government for assistance.
Meanwhile a boating advisory is in effect for Canandaigua and Honeoye Lakes due to large debris being in the water.
And in Avon - Hogmire Road remains closed because of flood damage. A Geneseo man was taken to the hospital yesterday after he drove past a road closure sign, and ended up in a large hole.
The National Weather Service has issued a small stream flooding advisory for Irondequoit Creek in Monroe County. Excessive water could pose flooding risks for Ellison Park and the area near Panorama Plaza in Penfield.
