July 29 marks National Chicken Wing Day

ABC News - The popular chicken wing can be dated all the back to 1964.

Anchor Bar owner Teressa Bellissimo got the bright idea of frying chicken wings and tossing them in butter and hot sauce when her son and his college friends wanted a satisfying late-night snack.

Since they were in Buffalo, New York, the name stuck.

The origin city takes their wings so seriously, in fact, that in 1977 their mayor declared that henceforth, July 29 would mark National Chicken Wing Day.
