Judge: Deputy Mayor Redon's arrest was lawful

A City Court judge ruled Tuesday that the stop and arrest of Rochester Deputy Mayor Leonard Redon were lawful.

The hearing was held because Redons defense attorney asked the judge to suppress sobriety test results and statements made during the arrest.

Trooper Jacob Brinson says he stopped Redon, 63, for speeding on March 19.

Brinson says Redon told him he had three glasses of wine at a family function earlier that night.

According to court papers, Redon failed several parts of a field sobriety test and registered a 0.13 percent blood-alcohol level on a breath test.

Redon's trial is scheduled to begin August 12 or a disposition will be announced on that date.
