Eastern seaboard preparing for Arthur

Nags Head, North Carolina - People in the Southeastern U.S. are bracing for Tropical Storm Arthur, which is expected to reach hurricane force as it approaches the Carolinas Thursday.

A mandatory evacuation for some portions of North Carolina's outer banks has been issued over concerns of potential flooding, high winds, rough seas and dangerous rip currents.

Residents and out-of-town visitors who may have already arrived for the Fourth of July weekend are being asked to leave during daylight hours.

Experts said that the storm could generate rip tides as far north as New Jersey.
