Stabbing at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack

Farmington, N.Y. - Ontario County Sheriff's deputies responded to a stable at the Finger Lakes Gaming & Race Track just before 11 a.m. Friday for a stabbing incident.

The victim, a horse groomer at a stable, was stabbed multiple times in the back, according to the Ontario County Sheriffs Office.

"The facts we have support that today's stabbing appears to be in retaliation for Wednesday night's shooting," Sheriff Povero said.

Investigators are searching for a hispanic man in his 20s driving an older green Honda. Police said that the suspect was also an employee of a stable.

The victim underwent surgery for his non-life threatening wounds.

The Ontario County Sheriff's Office said that there is no danger or threat to the area, but ask people to look out for the suspect's car.

Finger Lakes Gaming and Race Track released the following statement: The assault that occurred this morning took place within a secured area of the property that is not accessible to the public and is far removed from the race track and gaming floor patron areas. This appears to be a domestic incident between two individuals who assist trainers in caring for horses and are not directly employed by our company. Our thoughts are with the victim and his family at this time and we will continue to actively support the Ontario County Sheriffs Department and New York State Police in their investigation of the incident. Our focus will always be on providing a safe and comfortable entertainment experience for our guests.
