Farmington residents still without power

Farmington, N.Y. -- Strong winds blew straight down Bowerman Road in Farmington Tuesday and it took out very utility for about a mile and half.

Neighbors say the storm was quick. In about five minutes, 22 poles, about 80 feet in tall, fell or snapped leaving many without power.

RG&E quickly started working following the storm.

Riley Werner lives in one of the 70 homes without power. Shes been finding fun ways to pass the time.

Me and my friend Nathan had been playing board games together and weve been playing outside, says Werner.

Down the street, Linda Bowerman says shes never heard a storm like the one that tore down her street Tuesday.

It wasnt so much a snap as it sounded like a whoosh, says Bowerman. You could just hear something whoosh and then something hit the ground because the wind coming from the Southwest, the wind blew everything right across the road.

Bowerman, along with her neighbors say theyre surprised the only real damage on their street are the downed poles, the trees are still standing.

RG&E says they have to reconfigure the layout of the new poles because they only have 60 foot poles.

They say power should be restored by Thursday.
