Caledonia to remember teens killed in crash

A sad anniversary Wednesday. The community of Caledonia will come together to remember three teens killed in a violent crash a year ago in Wheatland.

Taylor Binnert and siblings Emily and Christopher Peterson died. Two other passengers, Michaela Murphy and Joanne Krutchen, were injured but survived.

After the accident, friends and community members formed Cal-Mum Strong to draw attention to the intersection where this happened and call for changes to make it safer. Since the fatal crash, it has been changed to a four-way stop and other improvements were made to the road and to improve the view as drivers turn on to North Road from Riga Mumford Road.

Bill Smith lives nearby and said these changes shouldve been made years ago. He said it has improved the safety and the intersection. But others would like to see a stop light there.

The service will be held at 7 p.m.
