Political rally includes gun giveaway

Rush, N.Y. - Would you like a gun with that barbecue?

Some participants were able to get a chance to take a gun home Saturday.

It was part of a political event, hosted by Republican State Assemblyman Bill Nojay at the Rochester Brooks Gun Club.

Nojay said the event is to rally support to reverse the NY Safe Act - considered to be one of the toughest gun laws in the country.

"When the Safe Act came along, when the governor crammed that through the legislature through the dark of night a year and a half ago, that's why there was such a reaction against it," said Nojay.

"This is part of our culture, part of our livelihood. We have jobs around the Second Amendment here in upstate New York. So why don't we try to rethink this."

The guns were given out as door prizes, but participants aren't able to bring them home until they go through background checks first.
