Newark man faces felony drug charges

Newark, N.Y. -- A Newark man is facing drug charges after a month-long investigation into the distribution and sale of cocaine.

The Wayne County Narcotics Enforcement Team says 40-year-old Karmalus Herrington was stopped by a Newark police officer during a traffic stop.

They also say Herrington struggled with officers and swallowed a plastic bag they believe was cocaine.

Herrington is being charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance, both felonies.

Police say more arrests are pending.
