Swat teams swarm neighborhoods during search
Lima, N.Y. A trio of wanted men were caught Tuesday morning after an overnight search.
Many in the town of Lima and Village of Honeoye Falls were awakened by police officers and swat teams searching for the 3 men via helicopter, canines, and on foot.
Roads were closed off during the search, and police knocked on doors to warn people not to leave their homes.
A swat team knocked on our back door, said Lima resident Kimberly Panpinto. They were very serious and very kind, letting us know to stay inside and what they needed to do.
Due to the search, some businesses were forced to open later than usual.
We usually open at 7:30, but had to open a little later, said Daniel Hornell, a cook at George Frances Diner in Lima. I hear theyve been captured and apprehended [the suspects]its been an interesting morning.
Two of them were found in a cornfield in Honeoye Falls.
Police say the third tried to ride a stolen bike past a state trooper and the Livingston County Sheriff.
The suspect was apprehended after he admitted to law enforcement that he had no idea where he was biking.
All three men were wanted in connection to a shooting Monday night in the Village of Bath in Steuben County.
Theyre all now in custody, and the shooting victim is in critical condition.
The search for all three men began shortly after midnight, when a Livingston County Deputy spotted a car police were looking for in connection to the shooting in Bath.
After a short chase, the car crashed on Route 15 in Lima and the three men ran off.
At this point, only one man has been charged, although the investigation continues.
24-year-old Steven Alexander, from Rochester, has been charged with First Degree assault for that shooting in Bath.
Many awoke before the sun came up Tuesday morning in both the town of Lima and village of Honeoye Falls as a search was underway for 3 suspects.
The shooting victim remains in critical condition.
