Man arrested on child pornography charges

Rochester, N.Y. - The U.S. Attorney’s Office is now looking for a second man in connection with a video of a rape posted on Facebook.

U.S. Attorney William Hochul is asking the public’s help to locate Jordon McCloud.

According to court paperwork, McCloud is named by the victim as the person recording the rape of a 14-year-old girl on a cellphone.

Shahmell Robinson, 21, of Rochester was arrested by the Greece Police Department on August 15th. He’s charged with rape in the 1st degree for engaging in sexual intercourse with someone incapable of consent by reason of being physically helpless, he’s also charged with rape in the 2nd degree for engaging in sexual intercourse with an individual under the age of 15.

Court documents say the victim didn’t know she was raped until she saw the video.

Robinson is facing federal charges of producing child pornography and conspiring with others to produce child pornography. Both of those charges carry a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years in prison, a maximum of 30 years, a fine of $250,000 or both.

It happened at a house in Greece on August 8, 2014.

The video came to the attention of law enforcement when another individual posted it on Facebook.

“If anybody else transmitted the rape that was posted after it was already posted is also potentially chargeable,” explained U.S. Attorney William Hochul. “As a federal criminal defendant, and certainly anybody that had anything to do with the actual rape itself is also subject to federal law which is what Mr. Robinson has been charged with.”

Robinson remains in custody.

He’s scheduled to be in Greece Town Court Thursday morning.
