Home damaged in overnight fire

Rochester, N.Y. - A home in Rochester has been deemed unlivable after an overnight fire.
Firefighters said that a fire started in the basement of a home on Roser Street, south of Route 104, around 12:15 a.m.

A couple driving in the area helped alert firefighters about the situation when they smelled smoke in the area. They followed the smell until they reached the home.

No one was in the house at the time, but there was significant damage to the structure. A cause is not yet known.
