Seneca County man charged in wife's death

Seneca County, N.Y. – Karl Karlsen, a Seneca County man serving 15 years to life for murdering his son, is now facing charges in connection with the death of his first wife in California.

Karlsen was convicted in the death of his son Levi last November. He admitted to letting a pickup truck suspended on a jack fall on top of his son.

Karlsen pretended it was an accident in order to collect a large amount of insurance money.

Levi’s mother, Karlsen’s first wife, died in a house fire when the family lived in California.

Karlsen also collected insurance money after her death.

He is now facing a murder charge in California for her death.

Police reopened that case after Karlsen was convicted in his son’s death.
