Bus driver pleads guilty to driving drunk

Rochester, NY  -A school bus driver pleaded guilty Thursday to driving drunk on the job.

Amini Kellum crashed a bus into a gas pump on Mount Read Boulevard in August 2013.

The accident was caught on video by a gas station surveillance camera.

Kellum's blood alcohol level was .09%.

Police said Kellum slurred her speech and couldn't keep her balance.

Her eyes were also bloodshot and glazed.

Kellum admitted drinking the night before, but initially denied drinking the day of the crash.

"I had two beers the night before. I started at eight and got done with them about eleven," Kellum said.

"No, I wasn't drunk, if that was the case then I wouldn't have come to work," Kellum said.

There were no children on the bus when it crashed, but Kellum told police she had just dropped them off.

Kellum was fired from her job at First Student.

She will be sentenced on October 9 to five years of probation.

She will also lose her license for a minimum of 12 months and pay several fines.  Then, she will have to use an ignition interlock device for five years.
