Historic building's renovation approved

Rochester, N.Y. - The City Preservation Board approved a plan Wednesday that would turn the Eastman Dental Dispensary into senior housing.

The building, located on East Main Street, was built in 1917 and has been on the Landmark Society's radar for years.

"We were just thrilled to hear that there was someone interested in this building and resorting it," says Larry Francer with the Landmark Society of Western New York. "We have great hopes for it. We have looked over the plans, we're thrilled with them."

Home leasing says it will keep as many historic elements as possible.

Construction is expected to begin in December.
