Woman killed driving to teach bible school
Spencerport, N.Y. Driving to teach children and share her love of God, is what 27-year-old Teresa Delin was doing Monday when she was killed in a crash.
Delvin moved to Chicago years ago, she was getting at Masters in education at DePaul University, but was committed to coming back every summer and teaching at St. John the Evangelist Churchs Vacation Bible School in Spencerport.
She was great with the kids, she really got them involved like they were in the story helped each of them feel special, said VBS Director Justin Jackson.
She was the drama teacher who knew how to keep kids focused and make people laugh.
Her personality, her sarcastic sense of humor I loved it, said fellow VBS volunteer Kaite Carr. I loved just how she would make me laugh.
She was just so good at what she did, it's just been different this year because she's always been at the same station it's just different without her, said VBS Volunteer Macey Carr.
Devlin was killed Monday in this crash in Ogden. A town dump truck full of gravel overturned onto her car.
Devlin was with her niece in that car - both were trapped. Three more people in a third car that was involved were also injured. According to the Police Chief Devlins niece and the three other injured people will all survive their injuries.
In the meantime, VBS Director Justin Jackson said the news of Devlins death hasnt been easy.
There were a couple kids that were asking where's that lady that usually does the acting? said Jackson. I think it's a bigger part for the staff because the staff has known her for many, many years.
