Vargas gives State of Schools address
Rochester, N.Y. Rochester City School District leaders are changing the way they communicate.
They hope it can improve student achievement.
The plan was outlines in Superintendent Dr. Bolgan Vargas State of the Schools address Thursday.
He says a lack of communication, poor record keeping, and intra-district arguments have been hurting students.
Dr. Vargas and school board leaders will meet with leaders from schools weekly to check in on attendance records and student progress.
We all are going to be proud when you see in this district, not just physical changes, but changes that President White was talking about, student achievement, exciting changes where children want to be, want to play, what to learn, says Dr. Vargas.
The Superintendent added that parent involvement is a key part of improving student achievement.
