Police: Man stole fellow Marine's checks

Nunda, N.Y. – A Livingston County man is accused of cashing checks that he stole from a U.S. Marine he served with at Camp Lejuene, North Carolina.

Nunda Police said Paul Nahalka, 26, of Hunt, NY, cashed stolen checks at a Nunda store where he knew an employee.

Nahalka, who was honorably discharged from the Marines in April, allegedly stole the checks from the victim while at Camp Lejuene.

He’s charged with petit larceny, identity theft in the first degree, forgery in the second degree, possession of a forged instrument and criminal possession of stolen property.

Nahalka is in Livingston County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
