Report: unsafe drivers in Rochester

Do you think there are bad drivers in Rochester?  You may be right.

According to a new study by Allstate, Rochester ranks as one of the least safe driving cities.

Rochester ranks 144th among 200 large cities in terms of car collision frequency.  According to the report, the average driver in Rochester will experience an auto collision every eight years.

"We don't want drivers in Rochester to be discouraged by their ranking. Instead, we wantthe report to challenge drivers in Rochester to make positive changes to their driving," said Jaclyn Darrohn, Allstate New York Spokesperson. "By looking at how location factors of our city impact the rankings, we are learning where we can be better drivers under these conditions."

This year, the data is based on factors like population, population density and precipitation.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 33,500 car crash fatalities occurred in 2012.

This year's top honor of "America's Safest Driving City" is Fort Collins, Colorado, the fourth year the city has held the top spot in the report's ten-year history.
