Man accused of hitting, then attacking cyclist

Avoca, N.Y. - A Steuben County man is facing charges after Sheriff's deputies said that he hit a dirt bike with his vehicle - and then physically attacked the bike's driver.

Steuben County Sheriff's deputies said that Jake Clarkson of Avoca was traveling on County Route 6 when he drove into the oncoming lane, hitting a dirt bike approaching a stop sign.

They said that, after the crash, Clarkson got out of his vehicle and hit the cyclist several times in the face.

Clarkson later turned himself into Sheriff's deputies. He's been charged with assault and reckless endangerment.

The driver of the dirt bike was also charged with operating a dirt bike on a highway and failure to produce insurance.
