Labor Day parade steps off

Rochester, N.Y. – The Rochester Labor Day Parade kicks off on a Friday this year, which is a one-time exception, according to the President of the Rochester Labor Council the group that organized the parade.

The schedule change is aimed at capitalizing on the Drum and Bugle Corps Championships in town this year.

The parade steps off at East Avenue and Lawrence Street.

Some people were surprised by the new day, but enjoyed the benefit of a more exciting parade.

“it’s got us all energized, ready to go. It’s going to be exciting a sight to see, that many bands and people here to help Rochester celebrate,” said Frank Gerris of the Drum and Bugle Corps.

The parade officially kicks off at 6:30 p.m.
