Graduation day for RCSD students

Rochester, N.Y. – More than 250 students from the Rochester City School District graduated Wednesday evening.

A commencement was held at the Franklin Campus.

School leaders say they were strategic in placing all of their students on one campus this summer.

"We were strategic in looking at our students, reaching out to them in June, and asking them to come on this campus, offering students with courses that were aligned to what they needed in order to graduate and help them cross that finish line. So, tonight it’s all about crossing that finish line," says Amy Schiavi, Chief of Secondary Schools.

"I feel real proud. I really didn't feel proud until my mom actually told me 'you're done, you made it, you're done with school,' and that's when it hit me like 'yeah, I did it, no more worries,'" says graduate, Jamarri Jackson

This is the highest number of students to graduate in August in Rochester school history.
