Victims of kidnapping/heist want more security

by Patrice Walsh

Mimi Salib broke her silence Wednesday and talked about the kidnapping of her store manager and his family two weeks ago in their Greece Apartment. The family was kidnapped, tied up with duct tape and held against their will for 17 hours. Police said their captors threatened to shoot them if they didn’t cooperate and give them the security code for the store and keys.

Greece Police said those three suspects are now in custody. They are charged with kidnapping, burglary and grand larceny. Those suspects are: 29 year old Thomas Pryor, 28 year old Qzay Clark and 23 year old Alexander Kates are being held without bail in jail.

Police said they targeted the store manager and stole 250-thousand dollars worth of jewelry from the Jewelry Lab in Greece Ridge Center Mall.

Police credit good investigative work, help from other agencies and the community and the victims for helping make these arrests.

Salib said she and her family haven’t been able to sleep and were scared the suspects would come back and hurt them. They are now relieved. But Salib and the victim’s family are calling for more security at the mall and at North Glenn Apartments, where the manager and his family lived and where they were held at gunpoint.

Salib said her store video showed the suspects wearing masks and gloves. She questions how they were able to enter the mall, and get into her store without being noticed by security.
