Leinart struggles, Lewis solid, Bills lose preseason finale 35-13

Matt Leinart just arrived in Buffalo a few days before his preseason debut for the Bills, and it showed.

Leinart struggled in his debut for the quarterback-depleted Buffalo Bills, who closed the preseason with 35-13 loss to the Detroit Lions on Thursday night.

With just three das of practice under his belt, the 2004 Heisman Trophy winner went 3-10 for 11 yards and two interceptions. His quarterback rating was 0.0.

Leinart was pulled after five possessions in favor of Thaddeus Lewis, who was acquired on Monday. Lewis threw for 132 yards, including a 79 yard touchdown pass to Marcus Easley. He also ran for 51 yards.
Jeff Tuel, the team's possible week one starter, did not play.

After the game, head coach Doug Marrone said if rookie first round pick E.J. Manuel is back and healthy next week, he'll have a shot at starting week one of the regular season against the New England Patriots
