Giergensons goal can't spark Sabres

Zemgus Giergensons scored a highlight reel goal, but it wasn't enough to get the Sabres past the first place Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night.

Giergensons worked his way through two defenders and scored from his back in the third, bringing Buffalo within one at 3-2, but the Sabres couldn't build off the momentum, and went on to lose by the same final.

Jhonas Enroth got the start in net for Buffalo, but stopped just 16 of the 19 shots he faced.

Greece native Brian Gionta did not score for Montreal.

With the loss, Buffalo fell to 6-22-2, while the Canadiens improved to 19-9-3
