Sabres Deadline Deals
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The Buffalo Sabres have traded forwards Matt Moulson and Cody McCormick to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for forward Torrey Mitchell.
The Sabres also acquired a pair of second-round draft picks in a deal made just before the NHL's trade deadline hit Wednesday.
Moulson changes teams for a second time this year after the Sabres acquired him in a deal that sent leading scorer Thomas Vanek to the New York Islanders in October. In his seventh NHL season, Moulson is a three-time 30-goal-scorer, who has 17 goals and 38 points in 55 games this season.
The Sabres traded defenseman Brayden McNabb, prospect Jonathan Parker and two draft picks to the Los Angeles Kings for prospects Hudson Fasching and Nicolas Deslauriers.
Fasching was a fourth-round pick for the Kings in the 2013 draft. He is a freshman forward Minnesota, where he has 12 goals and 15 assists in 31 games. Deslauriers was a third round pick in 2009 and moved from defenseman to forward this season for Manchester in the AHL. He had 18 goals and 39 points in 60 games this season.
McNabb played 37 NHL games, recording one goal and seven assists after signing with the Sabres in 2009. Right wing Parker has one assist in 11 games with Rochester after signing in 2011.
The draft picks are second-round picks in 2014 and 2015.
The Capitals sent backup goalie Michal Neuvirth and defenseman Rostislav Klesla to Buffalo, which only acquired Halak last Friday in a deal with the St. Louis Blues. Washington got Klesla in a deal with Phoenix on Tuesday.
The Capitals also received a 2015 third-round draft pick in the deal with Buffalo
