Wings roll over Indians, 11-4
Mark Hamburger flirted with a no-hitter and seven different Red Wings collected an RBI as the Rochester Red Wings trounced the Indianapolis Indians, 11-4, Friday night at Victory Field.
The Wings improved to 4-4 on their 10-game road trip and moved to within 1 ½ games of first-place Syracuse, who lost to Louisville in 10 innings Friday.

With the victory, the Wings have locked up the season series win over Indianapolis for the first time since 2008 and for just the third time in the last 11 seasons.
Doug Bernier got the Wings off on the right foot hitting a leadoff home run over the left field fence off Indians starter Adam Wilk. Bernier finished 3-for-5 with two RBI - his fourth three-hit game over his last 14 contests.
Aaron Hicks gave the Wings a 2-0 lead with a long solo homer in the second inning - his first ever Triple-A home run. Hicks collected a pair of hits in five at-bats with two RBI.
The Wings piled on in the fifth inning, collecting four straight RBI hits with two outs to extend the lead to 6-0. An inning later, another two-out RBI hit from Josmil Pinto gave Rochester two more runs and an 8-0 lead.
Pinto reached base four times, going 2-for-3 with a double, two walks and three RBI as he's now collected 18 RBI over his last 16 games.
Meanwhile, Hamburger had things on cruise control for much of his start. The right-hander didn't allow a hit until Andrew Lambo led off the bottom of the seventh with a clean single to left. The Indians would go on to score three runs (two earned) in the inning, but it wasn't nearly enough as Hamburger collected his third win of the season for Rochester. Hamburger went 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on three hits and three walks while striking out one.
Leading 8-4, the Wings took advantage of a wild Andy Oliver, who walked four in the ninth inning, to tack on three more runs. Deibinson Romero - batting in the nine-hole for the first time in his career - picked up a run-scoring single in the inning and went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
The Red Wings and Indians play game three of their four-game set on Saturday night as Indiana native Alex Meyer (6-4, 3.05) makes the start for Rochester. First pitch from Victory Field is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
