But with two outs in the third, Pawtucket got the bats going, hitting five straight singles en route to scoring three runs and taking a 4-3 lead into the fourth.
The PawSox would continue to hammer Wing pitching, scoring five more runs in the frame en route to a 9-3 lead after four.
Eric Farris would bring the Red Wings closer with a solo shot in the fifth. But Rochester yielded one more run in the 7th to fall behind 10-4.
A lengthy rain delay pushed the finish of this game back a couple of hours, but Pawtucket would avoid any major scare, defeating the Wings 10-4, and clinching the IL Wild Card in the process.
Rochester scored four runs on seven hits with one error. Pawtucket scored their ten runs on 13 hits, 12 of them singles.
The Red Wings will play their final game of the 2014 season in Pawtucket at 1:05 pm on Monday.
