Thursday, he was remembered at the 2023 Speak Life Health Equity Conference in Rochester. An inaugural award in his name was given to outstanding Latino Health Coalition member Carlos Santana.
"I'm excited about this — I liked [Edgar] a lot when he was around," Santana said. "He was an advocate, and he was always talking about the ones who weren't seen — that's how I am."
The awards were also given on behalf of the African American Health Coalition.
