Andrew Giuliani, the son of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, announced plans to run for governor of New York in 2022, CNN reported.
Giuliani told the Washington Examiner he plans to run. "I believe I can win the race," he said. Giuliani previously worked as part of Donald Trump's presidential administration.
Current Governor Andrew Cuomo has faced backlash for his administration's handling of COVID-19 in nursing homes, as well as at least ten women accusing the him of sexual misconduct.

Cuomo has served as governor since 2011. He's faced bipartisan calls for resignation in the wake of the sexual harassment scandals, including from Democratic Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand.
Rep. Tom Reed (NY-23) previously announced plans to run for governor on the Republican ticket. However, after a woman accused him of sexual misconduct last month, he said he will leave public service at the end of his current term in Congress.
