Authorities said the body of a woman who was 8 months pregnant was found in an alley in Fresno, California on Tuesday.

The Fresno Police Department identified as 26-year-old N-Kya Logan.

In a news conference, Chief Paco Balderama said Logan recently had a baby shower for her unborn baby, Noa.

She died of stab wounds, we believe, but that is also the case for the baby," Balderrama said. "Keep in mind, this is a 36-week baby. This is not an embryo or fetus. This is a baby who could survive outside the stomach. She intended to have baby Noa. Now, all that is done. They are both dead. The baby was also stabbed multiple times."

Police said a maintenance worker at a nearby apartment complex used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire but Logan had already died.

Through the investigation, police have said Logan's brother, 41-year-old Aaron Dudley, is the primary suspect.

According to police, Logan was stabbed with a sharp object numerous times inside a home. They said the siblings lived together, along with their mother.

Detectives said the brother put his sister's body into a city trash bin after the deadly stabbing.

Through surveillance video, officials were able to capture Dudley pushing the trash can toward the alley.

According to the Fresno County District Attorney's Office, Dudley will probably be facing two counts of murder.

He was found at the home they shared and tried to run as police arrived with a search warrant.

Once inside the home. investigators said they found evidence that tied him to the murder.
