What's Going Around - Week of April 22, 2018
(WHAM) - Here is what's going around for the week of April 22, 2018.
Angela Fenton with UR Medicine Urgent Care in Penfield is seeing the flu, strep throat and upper respiratory infections.
Fenton urges patients to wash their hands, cover their coughs, and not to share utensils and drinking cups.
Dr. Carolyn Stern with UR Medicine Urgent Care in Henrietta is seeing upset stomachs, the flu, and strep throat.
Dr. Stern said if your child complains of difficulty swallowing, is not feeling hungry or has an upset stomach or ear pain, it could be strep throat.
If a strep test comes back positive, patients should take the antibiotic right away and refrain from sending their children back to school until they have been on the medication for at least 24 hours.
Your doctor or healthcare provider can give you the best advice.
