What's Going Around - Week of December 3, 2017
(WHAM) - Here is what's going around for the week of December 3, 2017.
Dr. David Carlson from UR Medicine Urgent Care in Farmington is seeing upper respiratory infections.
Dr. Carlson said runny noses, nasal stuffiness, and even yellow or green mucous discharge are all known to accompany viral infections. They are not an indication for antibiotic therapies.
Dr. Carolyn Stern from UR Medicine Urgent Care in Henrietta is treating gastrointestinal illnesses - aka stomach bugs.
Dr. Stern said people can help to prevent them from spreading by watching their haands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, especially after using the toilet and changing diapers. Always wash your hands before eating or preparing food, Dr. Stern added.
If someone vomited or had diarrhea, use disposable gloves to immediately clean and disinfect contaminated surfaces with a bleach-based cleaner.
Your doctor or healthcare provider can give you the best advice.
