Crime Stoppers: Identity theft protection

Joyce Palumbo and Capt. Doug Comanzo explain what's happening at today's shredding event and walk through some of the steps you can take to prevent yourself against identity theft.

Continuing our conversation from last week's installment of Crime Stoppers Most Wanted, Capt. Doug Comanzo from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and Joyce Palumbo from Crime Stoppers joined us to talk about how you can protect yourself from identity theft.

One way is to shred unwanted documents that may have some of your personal information on them. You can do that today at a free community shred day, happening at 425 Paul Road in Chili from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

On Good Day Rochester this morning, we discussed why it's important to get rid of those unwanted documents so your personal information doesn't get into the wrong hands.
