Dinolfo being courted to run for Lt. Gov. on GOP ticket
Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo is being courted to run for Lieutenant Governor of New York.
13WHAM News has learned the Republican leader for Monroe County is a top choice of GOP gubernatorial candidate Marc Molinaro.
On the Democratic primary race, Cynthia Nixon is facing off against incumbent Andrew Cuomo. Libertarian Party candidate Larry Sharpe has chosen Rochester native Andrew Hollister as his running mate.
Molinaro met with Dinolfo at a diner earlier this week. She is heading up his search committee for Lieutenant Governor.
In a statement provided to 13WHAM News late Friday afternoon, Dinolfo said she wants to "best serve" Monroe County regardless of what the future may bring.
I am fully committed to serving as County Executive and I will continue to be relentless in pursuing a brighter future for our community, especially by growing jobs, holding taxes down, and building stronger families here. However, so much of our day-to-day work at the County level is hurt by what goes on in Albany. Whatever the future may hold, I promise you this - I will never pass up an opportunity to best serve our residents and families here at home in the County of Monroe.
