2 men arrested, 2 still at large after foot chase with State Police

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHAM) - Two men are in custody while two others are still at large after an attempted traffic stop turned into a foot chase with State Police.

According to Troopers, State Police attempted to stop a vehicle on Hudson Avenue for a traffic infraction on Monday just after 6 p.m. The vehicle was pulled over just south of Warsaw Street when three passengers exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Two men fled south, while one fled north towards a second State Police car. A Trooper was in the process of tackling the passenger running towards the police car when the passenger pulled out a 9 millimeter handgun and fired one round in an unknown direction. No one was injured as a result of the gun being fired.

The man who shot the gun was later identified as 20-year-old Luis Garcia. Police were able to identify the driver of the vehicle as 24-year-old Joseph Amadis. Amadis was also found to be in possession of a handgun when he was taken into custody.

Garcia was arrested for two counts of 2nd degree criminal possession of a weapon, 2nd degree reckless endangerment and resisting arrest. Amadis was charged with two counts of 2nd degree criminal possession of a weapon, 4th degree criminal possession of stolen property, 2nd degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, and other traffic infractions.

Troopers say two other subjects who fled the vehicle are still outstanding.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
