Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - In the aftermath of Florence a local dog rescue shelter is giving dogs from North Carolina a second chance.
Second Hand Dog Rescue received seven adult dogs and eight puppies on Saturday.
The dogs originally came from North Carolina and were then transferred to a shelter in Georgia while they waited to come to Rochester.
Second Hand Dog Rescue had about two weeks to prepare for the dogs.
The shelter says these dogs would have been euthanized in order to make room for animals abandoned during Florence.
Adoption hours are until 4 p.m. on Saturday and again from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Anyone interested in adopting can call the shelter at 585-05-5111. The shelter is located at 1041 Culver Road.
