Rochester Police have made an arrest in a shooting that left one person dead and another injured last month.

On August 21, officers found two people who were shot amongst a crowd of people on State Street around 2:30 a.m.

One of them, 27-year-old Jameik Foster Sr. from Rochester, was fatally wounded. The second victim, a man in his 30s, survived his injuries.

Investigation revealed there was a non-sanctioned "after-hours party" hosted by Burrito Urbano Restaurant. An argument broke out, resulting in gunshots being fired.

Eventually, 29-year-old Saquan Felton was identified as the person who shot and killed Foster, and investigators discovered he had fled to Nevada shortly after the murder.

RPD says its Major Crimes Unit traveled to Nevada this week, and with the assistance of local police and U.S. Marshals, were able to locate and arrest Felton.

At the time of the murder, Felton was out of custody after being arrested for allegedly stabbing his baby's mother in the torso in March this year. He was also awaiting sentencing on weapon charges from June.

He currently awaits an extradition proceeding to return to Rochester, where he will be arraigned on multiples charges, including second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. Additional charges may come at a later time.
