Chili, N.Y. - Two teenagers were hurt, with one suffering a serious head injury, after the ATV they were riding on collided with a Jeep Saturday night.

Around 10:30 pm, deputies responded to the area of Chili Center Coldwater Road near 490 for the accident report.

Upon investigation, deputies said the 3-wheel ATV tried to pass the Jeep as the Jeep was attempting a u-turn.

That's when the ATV apparently collided with the driver's side of the Jeep.

The 16-year-old driver of the ATV, and his 17-year-old passenger, both from Chili, were thrown from the vehicle.

The driver suffered non-life threatening injuries, but the passenger sustained a serious head injury.

The 16-year-old was issued multiple traffic violation tickets. Deputies said alcohol and drugs did not play a role in the accident.

Two people, from Bradford, NY, were in the Jeep; neither were injured.
