Avon, N.Y. – A staple of Avon is ready to reopen its doors, with new owners at the helm.

Jim and Jennifer Krause have spent the past 14 months breathing new life into the Avon Inn. Now, they are getting to open the establishment’s doors back open to the public.

Thursday, they gave 13WHAM a look inside the renovated building – one that they hope will have a sense of familiarity for those who’ve visited in the past.

“We’re putting our spin on it, but we’re also incorporating a lot about what people liked about the inn before,” said Jennifer Krause. “The famous wedding wall will be back, just in a little bit of a different way. We’re trying to keep a lot of the same pictures where we can, so people remember it the way they remember it.”

Among the changes are those which will make the venue more viable for today’s weddings – including a ballroom space that can fit up to 200 guests.

For Jim Krause, the venture holds a special meaning. His first job and apartment were at the Avon Inn.

“This isn’t our building,” said Jim. “We’re just the stewards of the Avon Inn. So we feel an incredible responsibility to preserve its history and do our part in our chapter while we run and operate this thing. It was very important to preserve it, keep it correct and keep it sustained for the future.”

The inn is already booking events for 2018. Right now, the Krauses are also preparing for the inn’s first New Year’s Eve Gala under their management.
