Rochester, N.Y. – Tuesday marked a milestone for the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce.

The organization marked one year since it rebranded itself to its current name. Last, year, the Chamber of Commerce altered its name, dropping the name Rochester Business Alliance.

President and CEO Bob Duffy said the past year has been a positive one.

“We’re all about business," he said. "We’re looking for ways to support our members in any way. I think a lot of things have happened. Our membership has been very, very strong.”

Duffy also touched on the status of expending ridesharing. Uber just started airing a new advertisement, calling for ridesharing to be permitted in upstate. Duffy believes it could work.

“Here in Rochester, our taxes situation is far different from New York City," said Duffy. "You’re not going to get a taxi in two or three minutes or less. So Uber is going to bring a whole different level of competition…and I think competition makes everybody better.”
