Rochester, N.Y. - Conduent has announced its closing its Rochester and Webster locations, which will affect nearly 200 workers.
The company said 187 employees will be laid off. 128 in Webster, and 59 in Rochester.
Conduent sent out a statement that read in part: "This decision will enable greater operational efficiencies and support our long-term growth and profitability plan. Conduent will continue to invest in Monroe County and have employees in the greater Rochester area.”
The closings and layoffs are effective September 28, 2017.
In April, it was announced the Xerox spin-off, which was created when the company split in two last year, will be bringing a call center to Medley Centre in Irondequoit.
That move is slated to bring 350 new jobs to the area and retain an additional 400.
The call center will go in the former Macy's location.
