Geneseo, N.Y. - A Livingston County jury has convicted Danielle Allen of second degree manslaughter in the death of Marcus Postell.

Allen was convicted of stabbing Postell in November 2016.

Outside court Thursday, Postell's family members said they were pleased with the jury's verdict.

"Just very, very thankful for the hard work that the Livingston County Sheriff's Department and District Attorney's Office did," said Lorraine Whitehouse, Postell's mother. "We're grateful they took their time. They wanted to make sure things were done right. They believed in Marcus, and I think the process worked very, very well. Just very, very grateful. The jury had a hard job to do, and they took their time, took it very seriously."

"God is good," said Monica Gathers, the mother of Postell's brother. "God is good. It was justified. I hope she gets the help that she needs. None of this is going to bring Marcus back, but I think it was a good day. A long two weeks, but a good ending."

It was a tough case going in, difficult circumstances, two wonderful families involved, but I think justice was served," said Livingston County District Attorney Greg McCaffrey.

Allen is scheduled to be sentenced on October 16 at 9 a.m.
