Pittsford, N.Y. - A Gates man has been charged with grand larceny and forgery after Monroe County Sheriff's deputies say he stole more than $88,000 from his employer.

Deputies say Richard Luciano, 52, of Gates stole thousands from MRI Contractors of NY between April 2015 and June 2018. Investigators say Luciano was employed as a dump truck driver, and that he would deliver topsoil to a Mendon business. During these instances, Luciano would reportedly accept a check made out to MRI.

Deputies allege Luciano altered the checks to say, "MR Richard Luciano" and have the check deposited into his own checking account.

Luciano is accused of altering a total of 109 checks.

He was arraigned in Pittsford Town Court. He was remanded to the Monroe County Jail on $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond.
