Deputies: Man being arraigned on Sodus court attacked court officer
Sodus, N.Y. (WHAM) - A man from Lyons was arrested after a court appearance in Sodus last month after deputies said he attacked a court security officer.
Wayne County Sheriff's deputies said 23-year-old Christopher Bell was being arraigned in Sodus Town Court on July 11 for an incident related to the "blow off day" in the village of Sodus Point.
After being arraigned, deputies said Bell intentionally knocked the court security officer with his shoulder. As Bell was being taken to the ground by deputies, he allegedly used his knee to hit the officer again.
The officer had "significant pain and bruising" from the attack, according to deputies.
A warrant was issued for Bell and he was arrested on Wednesday on third-degree assault and second-degree harassment charges.
Sodus Town Court Judge Fratangelo released Bell on his own recognizance..
