Driver accused in post-Darien Lake concert hit and run also arrested for DWI
Darien, N.Y. - Deputies in Genesee County said the woman arrested in a fatal hit-and-run crash after a Friday night concert at Darien Lake amusement park had been arrested on DWI.
Deputies said the victim is Connor Lynskey, 18, of Hinckley, which is near Utica.
Around 12:30 am Saturday, Lynskey was apparently walking on the shoulder of Sumner Road with a group of friends when he apparently ran off to catch up to another friend.
Deputies said his friends contacted State Police when Lynskey never showed up to their campsite at Darien Lake.
After initially failing to find Lynskey, State Police said they discovered from the friends that they heard a collision on Sumner Road during the overnight walk back from Darien Lake.
State Police and deputies eventually located Lynskey just before noon Saturday, along with a piece of a vehicle that was believed to have hit him.
Investigators with the Sheriff's Office received a tip about 48-year-old Jennifer Serrano. It was later determined that Serrano had been charged with DWI on Alleghany Road around 1 a.m. after nearly running her car into a Genesee County Sheriff's patrol vehicle - 30 minutes after she is alleged to have hit Lynskey with her vehicle.
Serrano was arrested, arraigned and sent to the Genesee County Jail on $1,000 bail, which she posted a few hours later and was released.
Investigators from Genesee County found her at a relative's house in Amherst a few hours later, along with the vehicle involved in the crash that allegedly killed Lynskey.
Family members of Lynskey tell 13WHAM the 18-year-old was studying to become a doctor.
Serrano is charged with 2nd degree vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of a personal injury incident.
